Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th, 1972. Her family was however raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner is her father. He was one of the chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local college. Wanting to follow his father's path her graduation was an engineering degree in chemical technology. In order to pursue her dream of acting, she decided to move in New York and try her attempt at the world of Hollywood. The restaurant she worked in was as well as appearing in Broadway shows. Garner was a guest star in the show "Felicity." (It was in this series when she met her first husband Scott Foley.) Garner made her mark with the romantic comedy "13 Going on 30" in which she portrayed the role of a teenage girl trapped within a 30 year-old's body. Garner chose Gary Winick (director) to direct the film. The two searched for new opportunities until Winick passed away in the year 2011. Garner has been designated as an artist ambassador with Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009, was an important role within the nonprofit organization. The program focuses on literacy, nutrition and early education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a member of the board of trustees of this organization, pushing for early elementary education. In her role as an ambassador, Garner visits often with the families who participate in Early Steps to School Success which is a program designed to guide parents on ways to support youngsters in their learning.
