Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian who scored a total of 10 in the Olympic competition. Bela Karolyi, later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci at just seven years old. The first time she competed at the national junior championships 1969 and finished 13th. She was the winner in 1970. In 1972, at the communist nations' meet for junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she bagged 3 gold and silver medals. After that, in 1973 and 1974 she was named the all-around junior champ. At her first competition as a senior in 1975 she beat out Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva the five-time European champion, winning 4 gold and one silver. In 1976, she became the first female performer to make reverse double salos using the parallel bar that was uneven as part of her demount. The American Cup was hers. of the American Cup, held in New York City. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. At the age of 13 she was performing on traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater as well as her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol entered the entertainment business during her teenage years. She started her career as a figure skater, performing alongside her sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around named Ice Capades.
